nappy rash
Nappy rash is a common problem in most of the babies. It is also known as napkin dermatitis or diaper rash. It causes redness, itching and irritation where nappy touches. Urine and stool in the nappies for long time may cause these infections. Ammonia which will generate from these waste products is the major villain of the nappy rash. Apart from these, fungal and yeast infections may also generate nappy rashes. If your child is suffering from eczema then you should give extra protection to prevent nappy rashes.
The standard medical treatment for skin rashes and nappy rash is cortisone cream. Fortunately, some paediatricians prefer not use such strong steroids purely for cosmetic reasons. Try Pure Organic Aloe Vera to nourish, moisturise and protect your baby's sensitive skin. Organic Aloe Vera will gently re-hydrate the most sensitive skin, without fragrance, colour, SLS or gelling agent added. Apply with every diaper/nappy change and don't rub in; allow a few minutes to dry. The lotion will absorb naturally and allow for much loved nappy free time.
Every baby is different - some seem to get nappy rash very easily and others don't - so there is no single solution that will work all the time for all babies. Having said that, one of the best products I have found for clearing up nappy rash is Simmon's Paw Paw Salve. It is all natural and contains no petrochemicals which is important to me. Putting a little on the affected area has it cleared up in no time. And it is soothing on the baby's skin. Paw Paw has so many health benefits it's not surprising that it can be used for this. Of course, this should not be taken as medical advice and if symptoms persist you should consult your health care professional.
Nappy rash can be caused by any number of things including; skin irritation from wet and soiled nappies, nappy friction, detergents, soap, perfumes in wet wipes or any combination of these. The best method of preventing nappy rash is by keeping your baby's skin as dry and clean as possible. As any mum would know this is an enormous task, increasingly so as your baby becomes an upwardly mobile toddler.
Thrush
A candida infection is indicated by a whitish scaling at the edge of the rash, or small spots. It can be treated with sunshine - yeast hates the sun, and a good anti-fungal crème available from your pharmacist. Using a hemp nappy will help because of it's anti-fungal properties.
If you use nappy wipes or "wet wipes" to clean your baby's nappy area be mindful that these products typically contain certain chemicals or perfumes which can sting your baby's skin, especially if the skin has become broken from the rash.Check for brands of nappy wipes which are perfume and alcohol free for best results and follow the advice given above of ensuring the area is well cleaned and dry after use.
No dirty nappies to collect, no laundry piling up, no odor issues, and no frequent poop accidents. Disposable diapers are tops in the convenience department. They are faster and easier to put on and take off (which is a blessing if your baby tries to turn over when you are changing her).Newer styles hit the market everyday.

symptoms of meningitis
It is a disease which is caused by the inflammation of protective membrane covering the brain and spinal cord and it is known as meningitis. This problem occurs generally by the bacteria or viruses. In some cases this problem can also occurs by certain medications and illnesses. Some other reasons of having meningitis include physical injury, cancer or certain drugs. It is necessary to know the exact cause of meningitis, because the severity of illness and the treatment is based on it.
The consequences of meningitis can be fatal. Where meningitis is suspected immediate medical treatment should be sought from a GP or hospital. The three most critical signs suggestive of the early on set of meningitis are a high fever/ temperature, neck stiffness and altered mental state which results in a patient being confused and disorientated. Other symptoms may also include photophobia (pain when looking at bright light), intense headache, vomiting, limb or joint pain and a rash.
Meningitis refers to any infectious disease attacking the meninges, which are the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. In the form most commonly seen, the inflammation is caused by the meningococcus and pneumococcus bacteria. These germs are found in the upper respiratory tract of 2% to 5% of normal individuals who may act as carriers; or, under certain circumstances, they may develop the illness as the bacteria spread from the nose and throat to the brain, usually via the bloodstream.
Symptoms
Before I go on to mention the symptoms I would want you to understand that the symptoms of meningitis differ according to individual differences and so all these may not be noticed and in any which it may seem presented.
This disease most associated with babies present these symptoms; Refusal to feed, vomiting, fever, moaning cry, Pale skin, rapid breathing and so on. Severe headache, fever, aversion to bright light is more symptoms presented in some adults and in severe cases unconsciousness.
Early warning signs
Until recently most parents simply knew to look for the classic signs of meningitis: stiff neck, headache, sensitivity to light and a pinprick rash. But these symptoms can occur as little as two hours from the child becoming critically ill or even dying, leaving almost no time for treatment.
Meningitis also often leads to irritability. In more severe cases the patient may even reach to the point of seizure. Small children, with an undeveloped mind in a state such as this, are some times found to be delirious. In infants, when meningitis is most serious, swelling of the fontaneele, the soft spot, may happen. This is due to the child's skull being unable to keep it's normal shape with the swelling present. It is even possible to diagnose meningitis after death has occurred. The inflammation that comes with meningitis stays with the body after death.
Viral and bacterial meningitis are the most common forms of this disease. There are many symptoms that might accompany the disease, one of which is meningitis rash. The rash takes different forms with each, although there are similarities as well. It may appear as just a few spots on some people, cover the majority of the body in other people, while no rash at all may be experienced by others.

baby sleeping bags
A baby sleeping bag can be very useful if the parents of the baby like to travel in different parts of the country or world. Sleep bags for babies help your son or daughter to sleep very comfortably during a trip or even in their own bed. Baby sleep bags must be carefully chosen to not harm the health of your child. If you want to not disturb your child's sleep whilst traveling that's why baby sleeping bags were invented! If in spring and autumn things are easier to gauge with clothes, the only requirement to be followed is that clothes for your baby must prevent overheating or cold, the winter things are changing and it is a little bit harder for baby's mother to get the right blend of warm but not hot.
Newborn babies are unable to regulate their body temperature and they may wake up too hot or too cold during the night or in the early hours of the morning. It provides an ideal micro-climate because it releases excess body heat and moisture when the room temperature rises and it captures and circulates warm air when the room temperature falls. Very active babies that wriggle out of their covers at night can lose core body heat, which makes it much harder for them to enter deep sleep. However, baby cannot wriggle out of her sleeping bag.
They are a safe form of bedding that come in various options. They are more comfortable and safer than blankets and sheets as your baby will fit snuggly in them and they will move with the baby and keep them at a constant temperature throughout the night. Unlike sheets and blankets which can be removed with movement the bag stays around the baby. The bags come in pretty standard shapes tending to be a bag with holes for the arms and shoulder straps to keep them on. They do not have arms as the aim of them is to keep the body at the optimum temperature.
Baby sleep sacks and baby sleeping bags are pretty much the same thing. It is very hard to find a manufacture that makes a actual camping sleeping bag for a baby. I would think that it would not be the safest thing to put your new baby in a camping sleeping bag.
You need a good baby sleeping bag for a few reasons. First, if the one you choose was made from lower quality materials, you could easily irritate your child's skin, causing them to be uncomfortable through the night. Rashes caused by some materials, can be quite nasty. Polyester is often mentioned when it comes to children allergic reactions to materials in baby sleeping bags.
Let's start with the material since it is the most spoken topic, in my opinion. Mothers are usually worried whether the material of the bag will harm their baby. This actually may happen and is a very legitimate question. Some babies don't like materials like polyester or any mixtures that contain it. We are all witnesses how babies are prone to red rashes and allergic reactions. Their skin is very sensitive and can be irritated very easily.

baby massage
Have you been heard about baby massage? Infant massage, also referred to as baby massage, has been practiced for centuries in other parts of world but has now gained popularity in the West.Baby massage is the process of rubbing and stroking baby's muscles and extremities in a way specifically designed for them. Baby massage is now available in most hospitals and clinics in the UK but the obvious choice to massage the baby is the mother, father, grandparent, or guardian. Although medical care specialists like nurses can also perform baby massage if they are confined in the hospital.
The art of baby or infant massage can bring about tremendous benefits like improved sleeping habits, better digestion and even improved growth. For example, studies have indicated that by carrying out massage for about three times a day over 10 days then babies had greater weight gain. In addition they were observed as being more active and alert. With all of the benefits you may sincerely be wondering about what is involved in the art of baby massage.
Do not answer the telephone during a baby massage and if you can turn on the answer phone or pull out the telephone plug altogether. No television or background music is preferred unless they have become acceptable to both you and your baby; look out for visual clues if sounds or music relax or annoy your baby accordingly.Try and make the baby massage time just for the two of you and avoid having other people around during this time. If other people are around, talking or moving about the room it will distract your baby or yourself.
Massage has been practiced for centuries in many cultures, and nowadays in parts of India, Pakistan, some African countries and the West Indies, massage is part of a baby's daily life. Babies are massaged almost as soon as they are born, often initially by their grandmothers. The mother takes over the daily ritual when she feels fit. The practice of massage continues throughout life, and children and adults are frequently massaged. Massage creates a strong and loving link between mother, father and baby. The London obstetrician Yehudi Gordon states that 'massage helps parents communicate with their baby, thereby strengthening the bonding process'.
Besides calming and comforting a baby, massages can help with a baby's stomach and gas pains as well as colic. This is a natural way to help relieve your baby of many ailments. Gently rub the abdominal area in a circular motion. Don?t push to hard, just gently enough to the touch of your skin. There are other physical benefits of a baby massage. It improves circulation, helps with digestion and stimulates the baby?s neurological system. Your baby will not only enjoy a sweet massage from you but profit from it as well.
Relatively new in the West, therapeutic baby massage is becoming increasingly popular and is taught to parent and baby groups via a worldwide network of baby massage instructors.Baby massage courses consist of a series of weekly group classes. Parents/carers are taught specific massaging routines in small groups of six or seven parents and their babies. This is followed by a general discussion.

baby boy shower invitations
Having a baby boy is a true blessing from above. Babies in general are wonderful, but there is a special bond between a mother and her baby boy that cannot be matched by anything else in this world. The first thing that an expecting mother does when she finds out the sex of her child is call everyone she knows to express the joy and happiness that she is feeling. Another reason is to inform everyone that there is going to be a baby shower for her new baby boy. It helps friends and family out to know what the sex of the unborn baby will be so that they know exactly what to bring to the baby shower.
Any baby boy shower invitation will be tailored according to what you think the expectant mother would like but, some fundamental guidelines that you should keep in mind are as follows. Firstly, a baby boy invitation must go with much bolder colors. The favorite is baby blue. It works very well with invitations but, if you choose another bolder color, it is okay. The message needs to be simple and heartfelt. Written in a pleasant language. You can find very good examples on the internet.
There are dozens of programs available for making all kinds of greeting cards on your computer, or you can simply use an existing program to make wonderful and unique baby boy shower invitations. All you really need from a program is the ability to adjust text and font size. And you don't need to be a computer genius in order to manipulate the programs to allow the creation of great invitations.
This would mean proper advance planning that would sometimes require involvement of the mother-to-be so as to add a personalized touch to the whole affair. Putting into consideration her tastes and preferences would mean to her that you actually had her in mind during the preparations of the baby boy shower invitations.
Word searches, word jumbles, cross word puzzles, and mad libs are great games that aren't quite as active by nature. If you want to get really creative you can invent your own. Something like having the guests see who knows the most nursery rhymes by heart (parents of toddlers in the group may have a bit of an unfair advantage on this one but it is all in good fun). Or make a note on your baby shower invitations that there will be a special shower gift for the guest that correctly (or most closely) guesses the number of safety pins in a baby food jar.
You can start making baby boy shower decorations by taking care of your venue's lighting. If you are holding the shower at the home of a friend and have full control over what you do, you can put small blue votive candles in empty jars of baby food. You can light these and place them in nearby tables and desks. Just be sure to watch these delicate baby boy shower decorations: the last thing you want is for your home to catch fire!

getting baby to Sleep
If you follow some simple rules, getting baby to sleep through the night can be achieved painlessly and quicker than if you just put her to bed and hope for the best. New born babies sleep a lot and feed a lot! Any mother can tell you that! If you have a new born baby he or she will sleep, eat, have a quiet period while awake, occasionally cry and frequently poop.First of all, let's assume you have a daughter or a son. I getting fed up with writing 'he or she' and in any case, most babies are daughters or sons.
During the first six weeks, getting baby to sleep is usually not the big problem it can become in later weeks. Babies and mothers both need to establish a firm bond and this often is best established through constant contact. When my elder children were born, the babies were usually cared for in the hospital nursery, away from the mother and tucked firmly into cribs.
Crying it out - This one's not for the faint hearted! It involves leaving your baby to cry for a set amount of time before going in to see to him. As you progress, the time between visits increases. Tough love indeed, but it does work! Eventually baby will learn that his crying isn't getting him anywhere so he gives up and goes to sleep. Now I realize that's probably not everyone's cup of tea. However balance this with the fact that, in the long term, you're setting baby up with good sleep habits.
Swaddling is a great way to lengthen your baby's sleep. It simulates the womb by providing a warm, secure and snug environment. This age-old practice of wrapping your baby in cloth, is almost sure to help get your baby to sleep faster, and for a longer period of time. In addition to making your baby feel warm and secure, swaddling your baby is beneficial in keeping your baby from startling herself with flailing limbs and preventing scratches to your baby's face. Swaddling also helps to restrain the Moro Reflex, which is an involuntary spasm in response to a perceived loss of balance.
Your baby's comfort can also help to get baby down in a timely fashion. Warm baths and a fresh diaper can lull a baby to sleep. In some cases, a comfortable set of pajamas can add to a baby's comfort level and promote a drowsy baby.
When it comes to holding or touching the baby, many different methods can be used to get baby to sleep. All babies are different so not every technique will work, so do not be discourage if some of them do not work but be willing to keep trying.
Many mothers and fathers unknowingly set bad sleeping habits for their babies. A bad habit can be something like cuddling your baby until it falls asleep in your arms and then putting them into the crib to sleep. If you do this often enough the baby will rely on your cuddling to get to sleep. This is bad because when the baby wakes up at night, it won't be able to fall back to sleep by itself, which means no sleep for you

breastfed baby
When babies are born, they are properly hydrated and remain so if their mother continues to breastfeed them day and night, even if the climate becomes dry. Offering water to breastfed babies does more harm than good. Yet, some mothers persist in feeding their babies with water and formula during the first six months of recommended breastfeeding. This occurs in many countries which bring harmful effects to the health of the baby. Experts recommend that mothers breastfeed their infants during the first six months for their child's proper development, growth and survival.
1. Premature babies. Babies obtain the majority of their iron stores from their mothers during the final months of pregnancy. This means that babies born prematurely may be more likely to have lower stores of iron at birth.
2. Low birthweight babies (generally below 6.5lb). This applies whether or not the pregnancy was full term.
3. Babies born to mothers with poorly controlled diabetes.
At the beginning of a feeding, your baby is getting the lower fat "foremilk" and later on, the higher fat "hindmilk". If you remove baby from the first breast before he pulls away and give him the other side, he may fill up with foremilk, causing some gassiness, fussiness, and more spitting up. Let him decide when he's done with the first breast, either by pulling away or falling asleep. If you have a very strong "letdown", or milk ejection reflex, then this is especially important. You may have an overabundant milk supply. Try keeping baby on one side for an entire feeding.
One word of caution: if your baby nurses a lot and then seems fussy, gassy and spits up frequently, it may be because of feeding management issues. Something you might want to try is "finishing the first breast first". At the beginning of a feeding, your baby is getting the lower fat "foremilk" and later on, the higher fat "hindmilk". If you remove baby from the first breast before he pulls away and give him the other side, he may fill up with foremilk, causing some gassiness, fussiness, and spitting up.
Ever heard of nipple confusion? It's when a baby has trouble switching back and forth between breast and bottle.
You also run a higher risk of developing a plugged duct or breast infection when you start delaying feedings at the breast. In fact, if you start skipping feedings, you might get pretty uncomfortable with full breasts and your supply may go down a bit.
One of the many concerns facing a new mother is whether to feed her new infant from the breast or the bottle. When the tradition of breastfeeding in America was lost during the last century, bottle-feeding became the norm. Today many women are choosing to breastfeed, but with busy and demanding lifestyles they often find it necessary for their babies to accept a bottle (hopefully filled with breastmilk). Occasionally a breastfed baby balks at accepting an artificial nipple for feeding. The following suggestions may help when offering a bottle to a resisting baby

breast pumping tips
Electric breast pumps are very valuable products to own if you are a mother of an infant. They allow you to extract your breast milk whenever you need it, at your own convenience. Mothers who go back to work soon after the baby is born can still have breast milk available for their baby, which can be fed by a caregiver. Feeding your baby breast milk through a bottle allows others to feed your baby, including dad! Additionally, women who are physically incapable of breastfeeding because of inverted nipples or other problems can still give their babies nourishing breast milk, thanks to electric breast pumps.
1. Check for Return policy. This is helpful in case of manufacturing defects, since it provides assistance in replacement and also tells you what to do in case there is damage during shipment. Most popular brands such as Ameda, Avent and Playtex breast pumps have a one-year warranty. Check for the details of the warranty being offered.
2. Find out if the brands offer parts which fit a standard baby bottle and accessories such as insulated tote carrying bag and freezing gel pouches. Remember, it helps to have a lightweight pump so that you can carry it while you're travelling.
3. However, if instructed by your doctor to sterilize the entire kit each day; that is what you should do.
4. If you have been set up with an electric breast pump; be sure to set the suction level as low as possible, for your comfort.
How often do you plan to use the breast pump? If you will be away from your baby only occasionally, a simple hand pump may be all you need. Hand pumps are generally small and inexpensive. To operate a hand pump you simply squeeze the handle to express the milk. You can choose to pump one breast while your baby nurses on the other breast. An electric pump may be your best investment if you are planning to return to work fulltime or you are planning to be away from your baby for more than a few hours a day. One of the advantages of an electric over the hand pump is that they stimulate the breast more effectively. The more adequate stimulation helps to empty your breasts and protect your milk supply.
Ability - How effective is the pump? How well is it able to draw milk from the breast? As a general rule of thumb, the closer the pump speed (pumps per minute) and suction strength matches a nursing baby the better at expressing milk it will be.
Double of Single Pump? - As the name suggests a single pump lets you pump one breast at a time. Double pumps allow you to express milk from both simultaneously. This helps to stimulate milk production and also shortens the time needed to pump as both breasts are pumped at the same time.
Comfort - The ability to adjust the pump's cycle speed (pumps per minute) and vacuum strength is essential to achieving an acceptable level of comfort while expressing.

bornfree bottles
As a parent of young children, it seems as though every time we turn on the news or pick up a paper, there's something new to worry about. Now it seems researchers are
linking bisphenol A (BPA) to everything from ADHD to cancer. Meanwhile, more than 95 percent of the bottles currently on the market contain the chemical, which can
leech into the contents of the bottle and into your child's digestive system. Do you need to be concerned about BPA - and what can you do to protect your baby's health?
Because baby bottles are often an important part of nourishing our children during their first year of life (and even breastfeeding moms may need to rely on bottles
occasionally for expressed milk), the recent news about potential health effects of BPA is particularly alarming.
BPA otherwise known as Bisphenol A is a compound widely used in the manufacture of plastics and epoxy resins. This industrial chemical has created quite a stir since 2007 and is still a subject of intense controversy. BPA can be found in plastics around us and is in the products that we use every day, from DVDs to eyeglasses to mobile phones. Normally, BPA is harmless, that is, until it gets in contact with food and drinks and leaches out. According to a report of the National Toxicology Program (NTP) of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), "the primary source of exposure to BPA for most people is through the diet...BPA in food and beverages accounts for the majority of daily human exposure."
Plastics manufacturers are up in arms and are pushing to convince the public that Bisphenol-A is safe. The debate continues to escalate as a result of numerous scientific studies demonstrating a link between low levels of BPA and a laundry list of illnesses, including cancer. Proponents of Bisphenol-A continue to hold fast to the opinion that low level doses of BPA do not cause noticeable harm to anyone, including babies. Plastic manufacturers point to older research studies performed in the 1980's that determined safe levels of BPA to be less than 50 milligrams per kilogram body weight per day.
However, there may be many reasons why you may opt to bottle feed. You may not be getting enough milk or your baby may not be satisfied. You don't want to be on call to your baby 10-20 times a day. You are working and need to be away. Or you just need a break. Of course, you can always express breast milk and your baby can be bottle fed with it.
Most can easily heat pumped breastmilk and formula in about one to three minutes. They are very convenient because if the baby's room is upstairs you can keep the warmer up there also. By the time you change your newborn's diaper the baby bottle warmer could have easily warmed up 3 or 4 ounce of milk.
Baby bottles may be the single largest source of BPA exposure for infants and young children, but there are plenty of other sources, like the lining of food cans. Pregnant women's exposure to BPA, via food and liquid containers and other sources, can also affect their fetuses.

baby formula feeding
Any doctor will tell you that breastfeeding your baby is better than using prepared or ready to feed infant formula. Since the baby gets anti bodies from mom along with the nutrients, it is believed that breastfed babies have stronger immune systems. Breastfeeding also builds closer physical and emotional bonds between mom and baby due to the more constant contact. Statistics show that premature babies also do much better when being breastfed.
Today, breastfeeding is being encouraged over baby formula feeding because of the many advantages for both mother and child. For the child, it gets all the nutrients it needs from breast milk, plus the mother's anti bodies, which will help the child develop resistance to certain viral and bacterial infections. Breastfeeding also helps in developing physical and emotional bond between mother and child, since there is constant physical contact, and the baby feels secure in its mother's arms.
Bringing a baby home from the hospital is full of surprises. They go through much more diapers than you thought was humanly feasible. You will discover a million nooks and crannies to become cleaned inside the bath. Their projectile range for spit up is out of this world. Whilst inside midst of discovering all of these minor miracles, you quickly learn something else- their appetite is insatiable. For several, breastfeeding seriously isn't a choice.
Many women make the decision not to breastfeed without knowing the real cost of baby formula. They may add up the price of baby formula, feeding bottles, and artificial nipples. They might even remember to factor in the cost of sterilizing bottles and nipples. But few women who decide not to breastfeed consider the cost of baby formula on their baby's health and their own health.Women who use baby formula breastfeed very little or not at all. The lack of breastfeeding, which is a natural physiological part of the pregnancy and childbirth process, results in increased health risks for women.
Breastfeeding is a great way to fight infections. Antibodies that are passed from you to your baby can help lower the occurrence of many conditions such as ear infections, diarrhea, respiratory infection and meningitis.
Breastfeeding is especially beneficial for premature babies and may also protect children against allergies, asthma, diabetes, obesity and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Breast milk is also known as the "perfect formula" for a baby's digestive system. Some of the ingredients include lactose, protein (whey and casein), and fat. All of which are easily digested through a newborn baby's system, and it also naturally contains all the vitamins and minerals that a newborn requires.
There has been much debate over whether breastfeeding or formula is best for baby. While breastfeeding is healthier, it is also time consuming and less sociably acceptable in today's society.
This trend is always changing it seems like from year to year. So with much debate, there are still some benefits that come from bottle feedings. Let's face it, if you're a single mom and your baby is in day care it's just easier to bottle feed. So here are some of the benefits that go along with bottle feedings.

how to get rid of bruises
How to Get Rid of Bruises Need to know how to get rid of bruises? Everyone has gotten a bruise at one time or another. Usually, you bump into something, forget about it, and days later wonder how you got that bruise on your shin. But bruises can be unsightly and ugly, and ruin the image you are trying to create. The question is, how to get rid of bruises with hurting your skin further. If you want to know how to get rid of bruises, you may be in for a surprise. Bruises are caused by broken blood vessels on the surface of the skin. There is no way to get rid of a bruise quickly, because bruises are caused by the effect of breaking those blood vessels and remain long after the pain has faded away.
Method 1
Apply a cold compress on the bruise, immediately after the bruise took place. This will help quicken the healing process and this way you can get rid of bruises a lot faster.
Method 2
It's a good idea to also apply a concealer that's a shade lighter than your own skin, and use a light layer just over the bruised region. This will cover the affected region and no one will ever know that you've got a nasty bruise.
Method 3
To prevent bruises you can wear protective clothing (long sleeves, long pants, shoes that protect your feet, etc) over those regions where you tend to repeatedly bruise yourself. If you have a particular region where you get bruises a lot, you can even ask you doctor or even a pharmacist or even ask on forums about special protective things for that particular area. Most of the times you will find exactly what you need.
Method 4
For minor injuries - bruised shins, wrists, ankles and legs - there are two options. One, you can wait for bruises to fade over time, or two, you can use skin care treatments for bruises formulated to clear discoloration and ease sensitivity.
Treatments for bruises are best dealt with using products containing concentrations of Vitamin K, Emu Oil, Aloe Vera and various botanical or herbal extracts.
Vitamin K has been shown to not only help restore health to capillary walls but to help fade and clear coagulation and bruising. It is a common ingredient in spider veins treatments and creams for its success in reducing redness and fading unsightly clogged or dysfunctional veins.
A hickey is nothing more than a bruise, and like all bruises it's just not going to go away immediately. It will take some time to get rid of it because it is an accumulation of blood in one area. But there are a few ways to make it fade faster. You'll just need to have patience.
You can minimize the mark by immediately applying ice to the afflicted area. The ice will constrict blood vessels and prevent the bruises from spreading. The problem is this only works if you catch the hickey soon enough.

symptoms of chicken pox
Chicken pox is very common in children, being actually a children' s disease. It is very contagious and it is actually nothing but a viral infection. Chicken pox is cause by a virus called varicella zoster, thus the medical term for chicken pox: varicella. There are few complications in chicken pox cases, but when they occur, they are very serious. It does not matter if you are otherwise healthy. Children under 10 years old are the main target of chicken pox. Adults can catch chicken pox as well, but this is very rare.
Once you have had chicken pox, you can not develop it again. However, if you have not had chicken pox by the time you were ten, then things do not look so good. Older children and adults that develop chicken pox risk more severe complications. Winter and spring are the most common seasons for chicken pox. There are also some people that are more vulnerable to chicken pox than others. For example kids that are immunosuppressed or newborns are especially vulnerable to chicken pox.
A highly contagious disease, chicken pox is usually spread through air, when inhaling the air near a patient with this disease that has just coughed or sneezed, pr by touch , again by coming in direct contact with a diseased person. Infants usually get their antibodies from their mothers while steal being in the womb, so it is very improbable for them to catch the disease in their first year of life. And even if they do in most cases it just a mild form they would be suffering from.
In the case of healthy babies chicken pox is more of a nuisance than a real threat. It is a completely other business if the child has a weak or weakened immune system. Chronic illness, leukemia or taking high dose oral steroids medication for asthma can lead to such a thing. Complication and infection can cause serious trouble for the patient such as pneumonia or encephalitis, a serious brain disease.
Chicken pox, as any other contagious disease, is contracted if getting in direct contact with the persons infected. The virus that causes chicken pox, called varicella, also spreads through air, causing the rash development. The other way of catching chicken pox is to get in contact with shingles.
This doesn't last much. Shortly after the flue like symptoms have past the rash breaks out. By rash we understand the appearance of tiny red bumps, mostly on the face, chest or abdomen. Spreading relatively quickly, they start to get bigger in a mater of hours forming a blister on a red base. A funny comparison has been found for them: dewdrops on rose petals. At first the fluid in the blisters is clear only to become cloudy during the period of several days and eventually forming a scab and falling of after another four.
Chicken pox is caused due to a virus. It is highly contagious and afflicts children as well as adults. However, when children get chicken pox, the symptoms are not that severe as when adults get it. With the advent of varicella vaccine, the incidence of chicken pox has greatly reduced in the US but there are still some cases.

baby feeding bottles
As first time parents, you will be facing so many decisions in caring for your baby. You will need to decide on what crib you will be buying, car seats you will be using, clothes, whether your baby will be rooming in with you or not, and so on. Another important decision is the baby feeding bottles you will choose to have your baby use.
There are many types of baby bottles in the market today; the traditional feeding bottles for babies are made of plastic and are quite inexpensive. However, there are also glass baby feeding bottles that are safer to use but much more pricey. You will also have to check on the types of teats that are appropriate for your baby's age.
Now that the big question, "Should I breastfeed or bottle feed my baby?" is out of the way, the next decision is which baby feeding bottles to buy? As with anything nowadays there is a large choice of different baby feeding bottles available in all different shapes and sizes and varying from cheap to very expensive. You will probably need at least 6 bottles to start with as well as cleaning and sterilizing equipment. So are the expensive ones worth the money? Or should you just buy a standard baby bottle without all the bells and whistles?
There has been much debate about this chemical but there isn't any reason to take the chance. Research has shown that certain plastics break down and leach BPA in to any liquids or foods it comes in contact with. The U.S. Center for disease control and prevention found that BPA was present in over 90% of the people they tested. But that's not all. They also found that Bisphenol A in humans is in a higher concentration than the animal studies conducted that lead to cancers, bad immune systems, early onset of puberty, obesity, diabetes, and other problems.
The early feeding bottles were made of glass and at that time, there were no health hazards. But these bottles break easily. Then the plastic bottle trend began. It won't break easily and it was convenient for mothers to carry the bottles easily while going out with their babies. However, at a later stage, researchers found out that plastic feeding bottles contain a harmful chemical called Bisphenol A or BPA, which is often used to make plastics "shatterproof".
There are several types on the market. You can buy a cheap and simple model that you just put in your microwave. The advantage with this type of sterilizer is that it is cheap. It also works perfectly adequately.

Bathing Newborn
It can be scary and even intimidating when your bathing your baby for the first time but if you are prepared and have a little knowledge behind you, bathing your baby will
be a precious time that you and your child will enjoy. So read on to learn how to give your baby a bath. When you bring home your newborn baby, it can be scary and even
intimidating when it comes time to give your newborn baby a bath. You have so many things running through your mind, such as how much water to use, how hot, where to
bathe and which products to use.
I was scared to give my baby her first bath, but being totally prepared made it a smooth and special event! After bathing her and two newborns after her I'm a pro, but that
basic set-up is still essential to newborn bathing success! Here's what you should have on hand as you prepare to bathe your little one in those hazy early days, and a step-
by-step way to keep him sweet and clean:
For a Sponge Bath
* A soft, thick towel to wrap your baby in.
* Several fresh washcloths - adult or baby sized.
* Cotton balls or additional fresh washcloths.
* A basin of warm, clean water.
* A very mild, all-natural baby soap.
* An all-natural baby oil, almond, or olive oil (optional).
* Fresh clothes, booties, diaper, and a hat.
Being pregnant and getting ready for a new baby is no small feat. At least you have about nine or so months to prepare! Whether this will be your first or your fifth there are
many things to think about. However, there is no need to worry. Worrying will only add unnecessary stress to your body. To make things easier on yourself you can break
up your list into needs and wants.Truth be told there are many things you could do without. If you are on a budget then you really only need to be concerned with necessities
anyway. What are the baby's necessities? They are food, bathing, clothing, and travel.
Your newborn baby can benefit from you doing some 'baby exercises' with him or her as well as gently massaging the baby's muscles. Exercising a newborn baby can help
the development of muscle coordination and control and can assist in developing muscle strength. Lay your baby on his back and simply move his limbs gently. You can
bend his legs at the knees and gently bend his arms at the elbows. This provides a wonderful bonding experience for you both in addition to the benefits to the baby's
muscular development.
When it comes to bathing newborns lots of new parents can get very stressed and worried when it comes to washing their newborn for the first time, but practice does
make perfect and the more you do it the more confident you'll get. Bathtime can be great fun and a chance for Dad to bond with his new son or daughter. Midwife Sharon
Trotter has this advice for bathing your newborn.
"Water only for the first month, that's all you have to remember, it's very simple.Treat premature babies the same up untl the date that they would've been due.

Getting Baby To Sleep
During the first six weeks, getting baby to sleep is usually not the big problem it can become in later weeks. Babies and mothers both need to establish a firm bond and this often is best established through constant contact.
When my elder children were born, the babies were usually cared for in the hospital nursery, away from the mother and tucked firmly into cribs.
It always troubles me to hear that there are parents using sleep medications for getting baby to sleep. Not just for baby's welfare but for the parents as well. Sleeping pills can be deadly for babies and small children for the following reasons:
1. Your child could be in for a lifetime of sleeping pill addiction. When he turns into an adult, he may never be able to develop a healthy sleep routine.
2. No sleeping drug has ever been tested on a baby or young child. In the case of some over-the-counter medications containing histamines (Nytol or Sominex) the effects can be reversed and they can act as a stimulant. Getting baby to sleep with these medications is virtually impossible.
With a little light playtime, your baby will have the opportunity to unwind before bedtime. A little playing can help the baby to fall asleep quicker, however, be careful not to play to hard, that can hinder a baby in falling asleep and you want to get baby to sleep as quickly as possible.
Your baby's comfort can also help to get baby down in a timely fashion. Warm baths and a fresh diaper can lull a baby to sleep. In some cases, a comfortable set of pajamas can add to a baby's comfort level and promote a drowsy baby.
Getting babies to sleep can be a frustrating and draining process. Thankfully there are ways to make it easier for you and your baby, so neither of you have to suffer. This article will explain the biggest mistake new parents make when teaching their baby to sleep and how to overcome it.
A newborn baby will sleep from 16 to 20 hours per day. Unfortunately, this sleeping time is usually broken up into 2-4 hour periods. The key is to get your baby into a routine sleeping schedule. This type of consistency will allow you ample time for household chores, a good night's rest, and time in general just for you...( because we know that all moms need some of that.)
